The Suncoast Woodcrafters Guild is a non-profit organization promoting the craft of woodworking. We exchange information about types of wood, woodworking tools and techniques. This is to improve member's skills, abilities and enjoyment for creating with wood. Our members are comprised of individuals from beginners to expert woodworkers and turners who have decades of experience.
In addition to our monthly meetings, the Guild participates annually in building and donating special handcrafted wooden toys and gifts to Sunshine Coast Community Services Society. These are distributed at Christmas time to deserving families across the Coast. Grants from the Sunshine Coast Regional District, Lehigh Materials and Sunshine Coast Community Forest, make it possible for Guild members to purchase materials to build these special toys and gifts. The Guild also participates in the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden's Fall Festival and Community Forest's, Wood Expo, showcasing the Sunshine Coast's talented wood crafters.
The Guild meets on the third Tuesday of the month (except July and August) at Chatelech Secondary School in Sechelt. Monthly meetings encourage an open exchange of information about wood, woodworking tools and methods. This provides an opportunity to share experiences, ideas, techniques and is for the mutual enjoyment for members and guests. A program of special interest is featured at each meeting, presented by the Education Committee. Guests and new members are always welcome.
